The
Bay Of Islands
.
.
Tucked away in the north
lies the sub tropical tip of
the country, Sweeping
beaches, the famed
Bay of Islands, with
it's wonderfully mild climate
epitomizes Northland.
Here you can hook a
marlin, ride the roaring
waves, explore the deserted
coves and islands
and discover the founding history of
New Zealand as
a nation. This area has a world
wide reputation for
it's big game fishing. As well
as it's beauty and entertainment,
people come here
for the relaxation it
offers. The tranquility of the area is
guaranteed to lower
even the highest of stress levels.

The Beautiful
Bay of Islands
You'll
find my opinion of this place to be a bit on the
biased
side...this is truly where my heart is....for me,
there's
just no other place like it in this world!!
(Not that I've been
to too many other places....
in fact, I've never
been out of NZ!)
.
.
A shot of a couple of the out lying
islands where boaties
anchor and go ashore or harbour
out and take
in what the .seas
have to offer.
.

.
The fabulous Hole In The Rock that
the Bay is
so well known for throughout the
world.
The fishing in this area is second
to none!
I have spent many long hours just
on the other side
of the hole fishing for schnapper
and have never
failed to come home with an abundant
supply!
If you're ever in the area, give
it a go.....
it's nothing short of fantastic!
Take a Look At The Paihia Waterfront

The northern end of Paihia township
showing the bridge to
Waitangi and theWaitangi Treaty
grounds and flagpole. It is also
where the boat ramp is situated
for pleasure craft to leave to
go out to sea to fish or
whatever
.
.
Carry on over the bridge and it
will take you to the
Waitangi Treaty Grounds where the
Treaty of Waitangi
was signed between the Maori and
the English on
Feburary 6th 1840.
Here you may visit the Meeting
House or
The Waitangi House, shown below

One of the pretty little bays dotted
around the Paihia water front.
Note the beautiful Pahutukawa trees
on the banks.
.
.
.
.
Believe it or not, but just fifty
meters along the the road from
where this was taken is the busy
shopping center.
.
Russell
Across the bay from Paihia, Russell
is accessible by boat, ferry
or by road. Which ever way
you choose, you won't regret it!
.
.
.
.A typical day in a bay at Russell.....
quiet, peaceful and serene......
.
.
.
.
A stroll through the Russell township
takes you back in time....
The beautifully restored buildings
give added feeling to the
sheer beauty of the natural delights
of Russell.

.
Haruru Falls
.
Just a short drive from the busy
Paihia township is the blissfully
peaceful haven of the Haruru Falls.
There are motels, a motor
camp, a delightful old Tavern which
was transported there from
Auckland and the "put your
feet up and enjoy" type scenery that
is just out of this world.
.
.
.
KAWAKAWA
Kawakawa is a small township west
of the Bay of Islands
and id known mainly for the train
that runs through the
middle of the town. The tracks
run up the middle of the
road for the length of the town.
