This is the stretch of water that divides
the North and South Islands
of New Zealand

There are 3 choices of travelling the
Cook Strait by sea...
Firstly, you may cross in a private craft,
or.....
.

One of the InterIsland Ferrys, or....
.

.
the newer and faster Lynx Ferry.
Those who do the trip often or are in a hurry
 use the Lynx, but often people choose the
InterIslanders for the more leisurely views.

On a fine day this is a beautiful crossing and the sights
on the way  are breath taking to say the least, but
the waters in this part are known to cut up in poor
weather and the trip although still quite lovely
is not as enjoyable.
Facilities on the boats are excellent and because it only
 takes approximately 3 hours to cross the discomfort
of the weather isn't too much to bear.
