New Zealand's abundance of fresh meats, seafood, vegetables,
fruit, cheeses and wines make it a gourmet's paradise,
 and there are many good restaurants and cafes which make
the most of this fresh produce.
Look out for the traditional lamb, trim-pork and venison;
salmon, lobsters, oysters, mussels and scallops;
 avocado, asparagus and kumara (sweet potato), kiwi fruit,
apricots, boysenberries and strawberries; and pavlova,
our national dessert, made from meringue and lashings
of fresh whipped cream topped with fresh fruit or berries.
There is also a wide variety of international food available
including Japanese, Indian, Halal, Italian, Mexican, Chinese,
Malaysian, Thai and over 900 Asian restaurants throughout
New Zealand.

New Zealand whites wines, particularly chardonnays and
sauvignon blancs, have achieved an international reputation
for excellence, (and the reds are catching-up fast!)
With your meal. New Zealand's licensing laws are
 fairly liberal and most night-spots, restaurants
and cafes serve liquor seven days a week.
