Lake Taupo

Lake Taupo has sometimes been called "The Trout Factory".
thousands of brown and rainbow trout have been caught
here each year. It is also said to be more of a tideless
sea than a lake. With steaming Mt Ruapehu as her
backdrop, Lake Taupo is always a lovely sight to see

Huka Falls

A few minutes drive north of Taupo you can veer off
the main high-way and see the magnificently raging
 Huka Falls. While you're  there you can visit the other
interesting sights to be seen in this valley.

Geothermal Activity

Just north of Taupo is the Wairakei Geothermal
Power Station.If the wind is blowing in the right
direction you will be driving through steam from the
bores  as you pass on state highway one.
 There are other geothermal sites in the area, most of
which may be visited. There's also the Thermal Valley
 which offers it's visitors a variety of sites to see and
 interesting hot and cold natural spas to swim in
